The rank size rule states that the second-largest city is one-half the size of the largest city, the third-largest city is one-third the size of the largest city, the fourth is one-fourth the size, etc. In regards to Israel's top five largest cities and their populations, these cities follow the rank-size rule fairly well, except that the populations are a bit larger than the rank-size rule would predict. If these numbers differed more, the rank-size rule would be invalidated, but because the numbers are close in size, the rule is validated for these Israeli cities.
