Adams provides the holidays celebrated in El Salvador. Many of the holidays are the same or similar to holidays celebrated in the United states. Many of these holidays are important to the Roman Catholic beliefs. Holy Week, Day of the Cross, and August Festivals are holidays that derive from religious backgrounds. Each holiday or celebration has special meaning to each person living in this country and make up a large part of the culture.
I enjoy the importance the people of El Salvador place on the religious holidays. The Christian faith seems to be very prominent in this country but I also observed the blending of Catholicism and indigenous beliefs into celebrations such as The Day of the Cross. This holiday is for the discovery of the cross of Christ and the Indian tradition is a celebration of Mother Earth. In each holiday, the people celebrate their culture and the beliefs that uphold them.
Each holiday and celebration makes up the culture of El Salvador. They reflect the views and beliefs of the people in the meanings of the holidays. Their belief in Christianity is the basis of many holidays and reflects their culture by the way they celebrate. A popular tradition among Hispanic countries is the practice of Day of the Dead and this style of art, which can be seen around the world, ties into their culture throughout the year.
