Weill gives a brief history of the enormous changes Israel has made in the past fifty years. Although the Jewish has been persecuted for years, their culture is still prominent in the arts, music, and theater. Many renowned artist were gaining popularity in this state and the theaters attracted many. The "Palmach Generation" were a group of authors who wrote about the struggles this culture faced and have influenced modern authors. Dancing has also changed within the country and the dances are influenced by the cultures of Israel and surrounding countries.
After reading this article, I realized how important the traditions the Jewish community are to them. Whether it is through music, dance, or literature, these people find a way to express themselves and the importance of their culture in their lives. They are constantly searching for cultural identity and this is expressed through a broad range of art forms. These activities are an essential part of daily life that are enjoyed by all in the Jewish/Israeli community.
The music and literature created by members of the Jewish community are important to them because they express their search for cultural identity through their art. These things tie the people to their ancestors. It is important as it shapes the culture and daily activities of the people in the country.
