This article summarizes the events that followed the country's independence and the economic recession they faced. Presidential and parliamentary elections at the beginning of 2000 ushered in politicians who pledged commitment to Croatia's integration into the European mainstream. Although many measures were taken to promote economic and political advancement in the world, they still faced many problems that hindered them from advancing far.
It is a shame that countries seeking independence cannot successfully uphold their government and economy because of the excessive instability that arises. Croatia faced great economic recession because of the war and economic decline in the world.
The problems Croatia faced changed the way that the government ran and the economy severely hurt all people in this country. The steps taken to mend these problems are important to the politics in this country because it will determine the future economy of the country.
